There’s a new KID in town – Selontra for Professional Rat and Mouse Control

Rats and mice can cause significant problems for homes and businesses in Delta, Tsawwassen, Ladner and North Delta. They can contaminate areas, damage property and continue entering a building if their access points are not addressed.

At Go Green Pest Control, we use an Integrated Pest Management approach that combines inspection, exclusion, monitoring, sanitation and appropriate rodent-control products.

What Is Selontra?

Selontra Rodent Bait is a professional rodenticide containing cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) as its active ingredient.Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) granted registration for Selontra Rodent Bait in Canada on June 25, 2026, for controlling rodent pests indoors and outdoors when used according to the approved label. Selontra contains 0.075% cholecalciferol. Unlike traditional anticoagulant rodenticides, it works by disrupting calcium regulation in the rodent’s body at toxic doses.

Is Selontra an Anticoagulant?

Selontra is a non-anticoagulant rodenticide. Anticoagulants interfere with blood clotting, while cholecalciferol affects calcium metabolism.

This different mode of action gives professional pest-control operators another option when developing a rodent-management program.

Why Professional Rodent Control Matters

Rodenticide is only one part of effective rodent control. If rats or mice can continue entering a building, the problem may return.

A professional program can include:

  • Inspecting for rodent activity and entry points
  • Strategic placement of approved control products
  • Monitoring activity
  • Recommending exclusion and repairs
  • Reducing food and water sources
  • Follow-up inspections and preventative measures

Common entry points include gaps around doors, foundations, pipes, utility lines, vents, crawl spaces and garages.

Signs of Rats and Mice

Watch for:

  • Droppings
  • Scratching sounds in walls or ceilings
  • Gnawed packaging or materials
  • Chewed wiring
  • Grease marks along walls
  • Nesting material
  • Unusual odours
  • Exterior burrows or rodent activity

Early professional intervention can help prevent a small problem from becoming a larger infestation.

Safety Around Children, Pets and Wildlife

Rodenticides must be handled responsibly. Selontra’s Canadian registration includes specific safety requirements for professional handlers, including protective clothing and gloves.

Rodenticide should never be placed where children, pets or non-target animals can access it. Professional technicians follow the approved product label and applicable regulations.
