Fireflies

Fireflies are soft-bodied beetles that are also called glow worms, or lightning bugs for their visible use of bioluminescence during twilight to attract mates or prey. This chemically produced cold light can be yellow, green, pale red, or ghost blue. First, air rushes into the abdomen and reacts with the luciferin, that gives off the glow that you see in fireflies. Fireflies can even control the pulsating of the glow by regulating the airflow into their abdomens. Some female fireflies aren’t motivated by mating, and some will imitate the patterns of other species of fireflies to attract males to eat them alive.

Prevent Pest From Getting Indoors

A dirty, cluttered house is an invitation to bugs to join your dwelling. Cleanliness plays a major role in enticing or discouraging pest invasions. So here are some suggestions to ensure that pests don’t feel welcome in your home. Wipe down your countertops and other kitchen surfaces with cleaners to remove food particles and smells. Put food into containers and dry goods can be stored in sealed jars and solid plastic containers. Insects are attracted to both leaks and puddles of standing water, so make sure faucets are working properly. Clear all your drain of food and gunge. Make sure to use a garbage can with a locking lid and regularly take your trash out. Seal windows and entryways with proper sealants and sweeps. A little housekeeping will keep the pest away.

Cooler weather Ticks love it – Lyme Disease

Ticks live well in both warm and cold weather. Ticks carry Lyme disease that is 10 times higher then reported because the signs and symptoms are not always easy to identify. The disease can affect more than one organ including the nervous system, the brain, gastrointestinal system, the heart, muscles and the joints. Mice and deer are carriers of ticks that are most active during both the fall and winter seasons in gardens, landscape plantings, backyard grasses and heavy wooded areas. To reduce your risk of coming into contact with ticks on your property: prune trees, clear brushes, cut grass short, no bird feeders or bird baths, and while outdoors where long sleeves, long pants, shoes and socks.

How To Get Rid of Cockroaches

Cockroaches are destructive, disease-ridden, messy, stress producing, and really hard to get rid of. You don’t even know you have them until it’s a full blown infestation. They hang around dark and damp areas like under the refrigerator, under the sink, behind the stove, bathroom and kitchen cabinets, closets and shelves. They can live for months without food but only days without water, so finding leaky plumbing is a start. Next, clean the house so it is spotless, top to bottom spotless, including behind all appliances. Homemade or store bought cockroach baits and insecticides are a good start to reducing the infestation but the bottom line is you need a pro to get the job done to completion.

Mouse – Mice and how to get rid of them

Mice are very cunning and rather difficult to catch, and there is normally not just one but several. Even baited snap traps don’t always work as often the following day the bait is gone and there’s no mouse in the trap. Other then snap tarps and sticky pads, there are other ways of catching mice, even catching them live to release outdoors many kilometers away. You need to make sure that they don’t come right back in through the previous entryway by searching for the hole and blocking it off. Here are a few humane ways to trap mice that you can google: live traps, the peanut butter spoon and bucket trap, soda bottle and bucket trap and the coin and glass trap.
